After the work on the letters was complete, it was time to start pounding on hot steel. First, I made the backbone of the tree from 1.5 x 1 inch steel bar. I forged it to a 1.125x 1.125 inch square bar that is 58 inches long.

Next, time to make the legs. Here one of the legs is heated before forging. The legs started as 1'x1' bar 30 inches long. After forging the bar stretched to about 56 inches.
