A cast iron handled Simonds docking saw. Mainly use for rough
work of timbers that needed to be cut fast. Large filed teeth in a crosscut
pattern with a good amount of set.
The etch. This photo is not retouched or enhanced in any way. The first
pictures I took showed an invisible etch. This picture was taken after
applying
shoe polish with a piece of paper and wiping it off with a new razor
blade. (VERY lightly, you're just trying to remove the excess polish.)
The shoe polish method doesn't bring an etch back that is too far gone,
but it usually improves your abilty to read the etch at least a little
bit.
A simple cast iron handle attached with 2 steel rivets.
The iron casting had a core to reduce weight and use less metal.
